World Olive Oil Summit 2018

On 7 and 8 June 2018, the National Exhibition Centre in Santarém (Portugal) will be the stage of the World Olive Oil Summit 2018 (WOOS), with the participation of the European Commissioners Phil Hogan and Carlos Moedas, and the Ministers of Agriculture of Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, France, Tunisia, Turkey and Morocco.

The World Olive Oil Summit (WOOS) will include several different initiatives, such as the Iberian Olive Oil Symposium, the National Olive Oil Contest, and the National Olive Oil Congress, including painting exhibitions, live cooking activities to taste Olive Oil and an agro-commercial exhibition fair of the olive oil sector.

Dr. Maria Saponari (researcher at IPSP-CNR and coordinator of XF-ACTORS) will present a brief overview on the emergence of X. fastidiosa on olives and the ongoing research programs to tackle with this detrimental plant pathogenic bacterium threatening the olive industry in the Mediterranean countries. She will participate at the panel: Perspectivas no comércio mundial de Azeite”, to be held on June 7 at 10 AM.
