Dr Stefania Loreti, more than 25 years of experience as plant pathologist, has deeply contributed to developing molecular tools for the diagnosis (detection, identification and quantification) of plant pathogens (virus, viroids, and bacteria), the diagnostic protocols validation, the study of the genetic diversity of bacterial populations, the characterization of pathogenicity determinants and biological control strategies. Head of ‘Bacterial Diseases of tree species’ accredited laboratory for the diagnosis of plant pathogens (DIA-LAB) managed according ACCREDIA TR-08 UNI CEI EN ISO / IEC 17025. Component in “Technical Committee on Xylella fastidiosa”, Italian Mipaaf. She has recently coordinated the national interlaboratory study for the validation of protocol for the detection of Xylella fastidiosa. She has published over 50 peer reviewed papers and has coordinated 3  national / international research projects

Role in the Project

Our activity will give a contribution in the following WP of the project  WP4, WP6 and WP9. In particular  we will involved in TPS activity focused at the validation of  Xylella fastidiosa diagnostic procedure –  by using  the most reliable or ‘user-friendly’ methods – following the EPPO standart PM7/98 (WP4). CREA-PAV will investigate the lipids compounds (lipidome) involved in the cross-talk between the pathogen and the host. In particular the Nicotiana tabacum SR1 lipidome will be investigated in symptomatic and asymptomatic plants by LC-ESI-MS and  chemometric analyses and the data will be processed by dedicated software (WP6). A plan contingency strategy for the X. fastidiosa emergency will be elaborated in collaboration with other participants (WP9)
