A map showing the distribution of Xylella fastidiosa in Apulia from 2013 to 2016 has been produced by researchers of XF-ACTORS project, using the data provided by the Apulian Phytosanitary Authority and Innovapuglia.

RED DOTS: Samples positives for X. fastidiosa
GREEN DOTS: Samples negatives for X. fastidiosa
Data gathered from the monitoring programs for Xylella fastidiosa are a valuable tool for the elaboration of spatio-temporal models focused on disease mapping. In the framework of the H2020 project XF-ACTORS, spatio-temporal models were fitted to the distribution of Xylella fastidiosa in Apulia from 2013 to 2016.
Using the data provided by the Apulian Phytosanitary Authority and Innovapuglia, a dynamic map showing the surveys conducted in Apulia from 2013 to 2016 has been assembled. In the map, red dots represent the samples positive for X. fastidiosa and the green dots the negative ones.
The map illustrates the vast sampling effort conducted by the Plant Health Authorities in Apulia and how survey strategies have been progressively concentrated to contain the disease. Despite the significant monitoring efforts, results confirmed the high rate of disease spread under favorable environmental conditions, absence of effective vector control, and presence of highly susceptible hosts. Analysis will continue as new data will be available.
