A technical seminar on the main implications for the nursery industry of the new Plant Health Regime, that will be applicable from 14 December 2019, was presented on June 1st at Vivai Capitanio (Monopoli, Italy) within the annual event organized by ANVE and several partners.

At the event, representatives of the stakeholders board (ANVE, ENA, AIPH, Apulian Phytosanitary Service) of the projects POnTE and XF-ACTORS contributed to the discussion on the main implementing acts and operational guidelines needed for the full applicability of the new rules.

In the context of this new plant health regime, the project XF-ACTORS is contributing through the development of the Voluntary System Preventing Pests (VSPP) to better integrate plant health risks in the production of plants for planting.

General rules of the VSPP have been drafted with the involvement of several stakeholders (Naktuinbouw, CIVITALIA, ENA, ANVE, etc) under the coordination of EPPO, and the resultant document will be proposed as a tool for facilitating the approval by NPPOs of the companies pest risk management plan as described in article 91 of Regulation (EU) 2016/2031.

An update of the VSPP document will be presented during the 2nd EFSA conference on Xylella fastidiosa in Ajaccio (Corsica, France) next October.
